Session replay & heatmaps that know who the visitor was

Watch real sessions and click maps, then open the recording on the CRM card of the company that visited — one cookieless script, bots filtered, nothing stored without consent where you gate it.

How it works

From one script to a fixed page

  1. 01

One script, same as the analytics

The cookieless tracker you already installed for analytics loads the recorder only for workspaces that turned it on and visitors who were sampled in. No second snippet, no extra vendor, and known bots are refused before anything is stored.

  2. 02

Watch the session, read the heatmap

Replays reconstruct the page from a DOM snapshot, so clicks land on the real element even after a responsive reflow. Click and scroll heatmaps render over that same backdrop, with a period compare and a top-clicked-elements table.

  3. 03

Friction becomes a test or an outreach

Rage and dead clicks are scored per page. On Scale the CRO engine proposes a split test and the AI opens a GitHub pull request for variant B. When the visitor is an identified contact, one click drafts the follow-up email in the CRM.

What you get

Session replay

rrweb-based recordings with a scrub bar, event markers (clicks, rage, page changes, inputs), keyboard seek and a jump-to-first-rage control. Duration counts engaged time, not an idle open tab.

Heatmaps on the real page

Click and scroll maps drawn over a snapshot of the page as that visitor saw it. Precise mode resolves each click to its element, so a button that moved on mobile still gets its clicks.

Rage clicks, dead clicks, frustration score

Both signals have one deterministic definition (rage = 3 clicks in 700 ms within 30 px; dead = an interactive-looking target with no response in 1 s), shared by the tracker and the dashboard. Recordings sort by most-frustrating.

AI read-out of a recording or heatmap

Analyze with AI turns a recording or a page heatmap into a short UX and CRO summary — what the visitor tried, where they stalled, what to test — using the included AI tier or your own model key.

Linked to the person and company in your CRM

A recording is stitched to the identified contact, or to the company revealed from the network, so a replay lands on the contact page next to their pages, goals and emails. Filter the list to identified visitors only.

Consent-aware, bots filtered

In gated consent modes the recorder waits for consent before it starts. Headless browsers and automation are rejected at ingest, so the click map and the replay list are humans only. Cookieless throughout.

Retention by plan

Replay retention follows the plan. Raw heatmap events — clicks and scroll reach — expire after 30 days on every plan, so the column below is the replay window. Every plan is month-to-month; annual billing is two months free.

Where Hotjar or Clarity is the better choice

A capability page you can trust has to cut both ways. Honestly:

  • You want session replay for free. Microsoft Clarity is free with unlimited recordings, and Hotjar has a free tier; our recordings start on Growth at $79/mo with a 7-day history.
  • You need surveys, feedback widgets or NPS beside the replays. Hotjar has them and we do not — our replays feed a CRM and a CRO engine, not a research suite.
  • You want a year of paid retention. Hotjar keeps recordings for 365 days on paid plans; ours are 7 days (Growth), 30 days (Scale), kept while the account is open (Business and Enterprise) — and raw heatmap events expire at 30 days whatever you pay.
  • You need console logs or network requests captured inside the replay for debugging, or fine-grained sampling by segment. FullStory and Smartlook go deeper there.
  • You record a native mobile app. We replay the web only; there is no SDK for iOS or Android and no rage map for native screens.

Why the replay is tied to the CRM

A recording with a name on it

When the visitor identified themselves, or the network resolved to a company, the replay sits on that contact page beside their pages, goals and every email you sent them.

Friction that ships as a pull request

On Scale, a page with enough rage or dead clicks becomes a proposed split test with a hypothesis; the AI implements variant B as a GitHub PR you review. A winner is never called before minimum sample and 14 days.

An analyst that can watch too

The AI business analyst reads the same heatmap and recording summaries as tools, so "why did checkout drop last week" can be answered from what people actually did, not only from the numbers.

Frequently asked questions

Is session replay legal under GDPR? Do I need consent?

A replay is a recording of how someone used your page, which most EU regulators treat as personal data even when no name is attached. BusinessMCP is consent-aware: in the gated consent modes the recorder does not start until your banner reports consent, and identify events wait as well. In the default mode you, the site owner, are the controller and decide the basis. Form inputs are masked by the recorder, no cookie is set, and known bots are never stored. The full analysis is in our visitor-identification GDPR guide.

How long are recordings kept?

Replays follow the plan, not a setting: 7 days (Growth), 30 days (Scale), kept while the account is open (Business and Enterprise), and a workspace can choose a shorter window but not a longer one. Free and Starter do not record at all. Heatmap backdrops — the page snapshot a click map is drawn on — follow the same window, but the raw click and scroll events behind it expire after 30 days on every plan, including Business: that is a fixed expiry on the event store, not something a plan lengthens. Session summaries in the analytics — pages, goals, duration — are kept for the life of the account on every plan.

Does it work on mobile?

Mobile web, yes: heatmaps are captured per device class with their own snapshot, so a phone layout gets a phone backdrop rather than a desktop page squeezed to fit, and the replay player scales the frame to your screen. Native iOS and Android apps are not supported — there is no mobile SDK.

Why pay when Clarity is free and Hotjar has a free tier?

If you only want to watch sessions, do not pay — Clarity is excellent and free. You pay us for the link to the rest of the business: the recording sits on the CRM contact of the company that visited, friction is scored and turned into a proposed A/B test the AI implements as a pull request, and the AI business analyst can read the same data. Standalone replay tools do none of that. The market table above says where each one is stronger.

Will recording slow down my site?

The recorder loads only after the page is interactive, only for workspaces that enabled it, and only for visitors who were sampled in. It ships in chunks, drops idle time after three minutes with no interaction, and never blocks rendering. The analytics tracker itself is one small first-party script that is already on the page.
