Data-broker disclosure

Last updated: 28 September 2026

BusinessMCP, Inc.(“BusinessMCP”, “we”) compiles records about people in their professional capacity: who works where, in what role, and how to reach them at work. Some US states treat a business that sells personal information about people it has no direct relationship with as a data broker. This page says what we compile, where it comes from, who receives it and how to take yours out. It is part of our Privacy Policy.

What we compile

A business-contact record can hold the following. Each field is present only where a source published it.

  • Name
  • Job title, and the seniority and department we derive from it
  • Employer (company name and website domain)
  • Work email address, either published by the employer or inferred from the email format the employer uses
  • Work phone number, where the employer or a public listing publishes one
  • Work location (city, region or country), where published
  • LinkedIn profile URL
  • Employer firmographics: industry, size band, country and city, company phone and company LinkedIn page

We do not collect dates of birth, government identifiers, or financial or health information.

Where it comes from

  • Public company websites (team, about and contact pages, and the structured data those pages publish)
  • Public company registries, including the officers they list
  • Public search-engine results for a person and their employer (we query a search engine; we do not log in to or scrape LinkedIn itself)
  • Open company datasets and public business listings (for employer firmographics)

What we use it for

Inside our product, businesses that use BusinessMCP for sales and CRM can look up the people at a company they are researching, for example to find the right person to contact. That is the purpose we compile these records for.

We also offer person records through the BusinessMCP Data API, to paying business customers who accept our Hub Terms and declare a permitted business purpose. Those terms forbid using the records for decisions about credit, employment, insurance or housing, and forbid contacting anyone who has opted out. We keep a log of which customer received which records, when, and for what declared purpose.

People whose records we never sell

Through the Data API we never sell a record about a person in the European Union, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, or about a person we cannot place in a country. We check three signals: the person’s own location, their employer’s country and their employer’s web domain. If any of them points to one of those countries, or none of them points to any country, the record is never sold.

In the United States we also never sell a record about a person we place in California, Texas, Vermont and Oregon, or about a US person we cannot place in a state. We place a person by their own stated location where we have one, and otherwise by the state their employer is in. That means someone who lives in one of these states but works for an employer based elsewhere can still be included. If that is you, the opt-out form removes you.

Who receives it

  • Businesses using our product’s sales and CRM features, as described above.
  • Data API customers, under the Hub Terms and the restrictions above.
  • Service providers that host and maintain the records for us, such as our database host and an email-address verification service.
  • Authorities, where the law requires us to disclose it.

How long we keep it

There is no fixed expiry: a record stays in our store while it is part of it. We remove it when you opt out or ask for deletion (within about 24 hours), and in routine clean-ups, for example when the employer’s website no longer exists. After an opt-out we keep only a one-way hash of your identifiers, so that we do not collect you again.

Opt out or delete your record

Use our opt-out form. It needs no account and no ID, and it removes your record from our store whichever option you choose. You can also email privacy@businessmcp.com. We will not treat you differently for doing so.

Registrations

We are not registered as a data broker in any state. California, Texas, Vermont and Oregon are the states that require data brokers to register, and we do not sell records about people we place there (see above). If we ever do, we will register first and list the registration here.

California: the Delete Request and Opt-out Platform

The California Privacy Protection Agency runs the Delete Request and Opt-out Platform (DROP), a free service through which a California resident sends one deletion request to every data broker registered in California. We do not sell records about people we place in California, so we are not registered there and do not receive DROP requests. Our own opt-out form removes your record whichever state you live in.
