The full picture

Crazy Egg is the original heatmap tool and still a tidy one: heatmap "snapshots", session recordings, surveys, error tracking and a no-code A/B test editor, on four plans from $29 to $599 per month billed annually. The catch is the metering — Starter allows 5 heatmap reports and 50 recordings a month, Plus 75 and 1,000, and A/B testing and error tracking only begin on Plus at $99.

BusinessMCP takes a different route to the same goal. Heatmaps and recordings are not metered per report; they run for every page within your plan’s visitor allowance, and each recording is linked to the identified company or person. Rage and dead clicks are detected deterministically, an AI read-out summarizes any recording or heatmap, and on the $199 Scale plan the CRO engine ranks the friction, proposes a test, and opens a GitHub pull request implementing variant B — the step Crazy Egg leaves to you and its visual editor.

Why teams switch

No per-report or per-recording meter

Crazy Egg counts heatmap reports (5 on Starter, 75 on Plus) and recordings per month (50 on Starter, 1,000 on Plus). BusinessMCP records within your plan’s unique-visitor allowance and builds heatmaps for any path you open, with period compare and top-clicked elements on every one.

The test is proposed, and the variant is written

Crazy Egg gives you a visual editor and leaves the hypothesis and the build to you. On Scale, BusinessMCP scores eight friction patterns by ICE, proposes a test with a hypothesis, and the AI opens a pull request in your GitHub repo with a CSS-only variant B; a winner is never called before minimum sample and 14 days.

You know who rage-clicked

A Crazy Egg recording is anonymous. BusinessMCP attaches it to the company from our own IP graph or to the person once they identify, so a frustrated session on the pricing page becomes a hot-visitor alert and a card in your CRM.

Where BusinessMCP is NOT the right choice

An alternatives page you can trust has to cut both ways. Honestly:

  • Crazy Egg’s A/B editor is visual and no-code from the $99 Plus plan. BusinessMCP’s experiments live on the $199 Scale plan, require a GitHub-hosted codebase and a pull-request review, and have no WYSIWYG editor.
  • Crazy Egg keeps recordings for 2 years from Plus up and ships unlimited surveys; BusinessMCP keeps 7 days on Growth and 30 on Scale (indefinite only on the $499 Business plan) and has no surveys at all.
  • There is no free replay tier. Microsoft Clarity is free with unlimited recordings, Hotjar and Mouseflow both have free plans; BusinessMCP recordings start on Growth at $79/mo with 7-day history.
  • Replays capture the DOM, not the console: there is no console-log or network-request capture, and no native mobile-app SDK (Smartlook and Mouseflow both record iOS/Android apps).
  • We are a younger tool with fewer integrations, and our sampling controls are simpler than FullStory-class segmentation. You get analytics, CRM and one AI over all of it in the same product — but not a decade of replay-specific polish.

Frequently asked questions

Does BusinessMCP have Crazy Egg’s A/B testing?

Yes, differently. Crazy Egg gives you a visual editor to build variants by hand from the $99 Plus plan. BusinessMCP’s CRO engine (Scale, $199) finds the friction, proposes the hypothesis, and the AI opens a GitHub pull request with a CSS-only variant B; the split is assigned per visitor with a pre-paint bootstrap so there is no flicker, and results use a two-proportion z-test with a 14-day minimum. It needs your site’s code on GitHub.

Are BusinessMCP heatmaps and recordings metered like Crazy Egg’s?

Not per report or per recording. They run within your plan’s monthly unique-visitor allowance (3,000 on Growth, 10,000 on Scale, 50,000 on Business) with a sampling rate you control. Retention is the limit instead: 7 days on Growth, 30 on Scale, indefinite on Business.

Which is cheaper?

For heatmaps alone, Crazy Egg’s $29 Starter is cheaper than our $79 Growth plan. Once you want A/B testing, Crazy Egg is $99 (Plus) and BusinessMCP is $199 (Scale) — but Scale also includes first-party analytics, company identification, a CRM, the AI business analyst and 300 AI SDR prospects a month, which Crazy Egg does not sell.

Does Crazy Egg identify the visiting company?

No. Crazy Egg recordings and heatmaps are anonymous. BusinessMCP resolves the company from its own IP graph on every paid plan and links recordings to the person once they identify, which is the reason a replay can end in a hot-visitor alert.

How to migrate

  1. 1

Install the BusinessMCP snippet alongside Crazy Egg — one script each, no conflict — and turn on heatmaps and recordings in Overview → Heatmaps (Growth).

  2. 2

Open the heatmap for each page you had a Crazy Egg snapshot on; there is no report quota, so build them as you go and use period compare instead of saving snapshots.

  3. 3

Connect GitHub and let the Experiments tab (Scale) propose tests from the friction it finds; running Crazy Egg tests can finish where they are — results do not transfer.

  4. 4

Keep Crazy Egg for surveys if you use them; they have no equivalent in BusinessMCP.
