The full picture

FullStory is the enterprise reference for session replay: pixel-perfect playback, console and network capture, product analytics, mobile SDKs and capture rules by segment. It also has a permanent free tier — 30,000 sessions a month with 12 months of retention and up to 10 users — which is more generous than most people realise. Above that, though, every plan is “Request pricing”. Vendr’s data from 454 purchases puts contracts between roughly $10,000 and $116,000 a year with a median near $28,000, on annual terms, with mobile SDKs and longer retention quoted on top.

BusinessMCP is not trying to be FullStory for engineers. It is replay for the people who own revenue: recordings and heatmaps on the same cookieless script as your analytics and CRM, every session linked to the identified person or the company resolved from IP, deterministic rage and dead-click detection with a frustration score, an AI read-out of any recording, and — on Scale — friction turned into an A/B test the AI implements as a pull request. Replay starts at $79/month, month-to-month.

Why teams switch

A price you can read

FullStory publishes no paid prices; you get a quote and an annual contract, and reported deals cluster around $28k a year. BusinessMCP’s plans are on the pricing page: replay on Growth at $79/month, 30-day retention and A/B testing on Scale at $199, recordings kept for the life of the account on Business at $499, all month-to-month.

Replay that feeds a pipeline

FullStory answers “what happened in the product”. BusinessMCP answers “what happened, and which account was it” — sessions carry the resolved company or identified contact, the CRM holds the account, and hot-visitor alerts fire when a known company hits your pricing page. Replay becomes a sales signal, not only a UX artefact.

One AI over replay, analytics and CRM

FullStory’s StoryAI summarises sessions (as an add-on). BusinessMCP’s AI business analyst reads a recording or heatmap on request and can also query the funnel, attribution, pipeline and revenue in the same conversation — because they are one dataset, not integrated products.

Cookieless and consent-aware by design

FullStory relies on cookie-based identity. BusinessMCP’s script is cookieless; in consent-gated modes recording waits for consent, bots are dropped at ingest, and company-level identification keeps you on the GDPR-conservative side for EU traffic.

Where BusinessMCP is NOT the right choice

An alternatives page you can trust has to cut both ways. Honestly:

  • FullStory captures console logs and network requests alongside the DOM and ships native mobile SDKs. BusinessMCP replays the DOM only and is web-only — if engineers debugging the product are your replay audience, FullStory is the better tool.
  • FullStory’s free tier is bigger than ours: 30,000 sessions a month with 12 months of retention for $0. BusinessMCP has no free replay at all; recordings start on the $79 Growth plan with 7-day retention.
  • We do not ship surveys, feedback widgets, NPS or funnel-in-replay reports. Hotjar, Lucky Orange and Mouseflow bundle those; with us, a survey tool is a separate purchase.
  • Replays capture the DOM, not the console or network. FullStory and Smartlook record JS errors and requests alongside the session; if engineers are your main replay audience, that matters.
  • We are a younger product with fewer integrations and coarser sampling controls than FullStory’s segment-based capture rules, and there is no native mobile-app SDK — web only.

Frequently asked questions

How much does FullStory cost?

FullStory publishes no paid prices — Business, Advanced and Enterprise are all “Request pricing”. Vendr’s data from 454 purchases reports contracts from roughly $10,000 to $116,000 a year with a median near $28,000. The free tier covers 30,000 sessions a month with 12 months of retention.

Does BusinessMCP capture console logs and network requests like FullStory?

No. BusinessMCP replays the DOM (rrweb), clicks, scrolls and page changes. It does not record console output or network calls, and there is no mobile-app SDK. For engineering-grade debugging, FullStory remains the stronger product.

Is BusinessMCP a full FullStory replacement?

For revenue and marketing teams — replay, heatmaps, frustration detection, AI analysis and, critically, knowing which company the session belonged to — yes, at a published monthly price. For product analytics at enterprise scale, mobile SDKs and segment-level capture rules, no.

What retention does BusinessMCP offer versus FullStory?

BusinessMCP keeps recordings 7 days on Growth, 30 on Scale and unlimited on Business; the durable session record is kept for the life of the account. FullStory Free keeps 12 months, and paid retention is set in the contract, with extensions quoted on top.

How to migrate

  1. 1

Keep FullStory’s free tier if you are under 30k sessions — it costs nothing and the scripts coexist.

  2. 2

Install the BusinessMCP script, enable recordings in Overview → Heatmaps, and use the identified-only filter to see the sessions FullStory cannot attribute to an account.

  3. 3

Recreate your key segments as BusinessMCP recording filters (page, min duration, most frustrating) and set hot-visitor alerts for the pages that matter.

  4. 4

If you are on a FullStory contract, time the switch to your renewal — reported deals are annual.
