Best Claude Skills for Writing & Docs (2026)

Writing skills fix the two things generic AI prose gets wrong: format and audience. Anthropic’s Internal Comms skill gives Claude the house formats for status updates and announcements, and its PDF and DOCX skills handle real document files — filling forms, preserving layout, editing tracked changes.

Writing Plans from obra’s Superpowers turns a vague task into a step-by-step implementation plan, and Changelog Automation keeps release notes consistent with your commit history.

One licensing note: Anthropic’s PDF and DOCX skills are source-available, not open source. We list them because they are among the most useful skills there are, but their licence forbids copying, so they run inside Claude’s own apps and cannot be imported into BusinessMCP.

Frequently asked questions

Which writing skill is for engineers?

Writing Plans and Changelog Automation. Writing Plans turns a feature request into an implementation plan before any code is written; Changelog Automation builds release notes from commit history.

Why can’t I import the PDF and DOCX skills into BusinessMCP?

Their licence, not our choice. Anthropic publishes them source-available with a restriction against reproducing or redistributing them, so we link to them and show how to install them in Claude, but we never copy them into a workspace.
