PDF, published by anthropics in the skills repository, is a guide to processing PDF files with Python libraries and command-line tools. It covers reading and extracting text with pypdf and pdfplumber, extracting tables into pandas DataFrames, merging, splitting, rotating pages and reading metadata, creating new PDFs with reportlab, and command-line work with pdftotext, qpdf and pdftk. A separate forms guide walks through filling PDF forms, using fillable fields where they exist and, for non-fillable forms, structure-based or visual coordinate estimation with bounding-box validation before filling. An advanced reference adds libraries such as pypdfium2.
It bundles helper scripts for checking fillable fields, extracting form structure, converting pages to images, filling fields and validating bounding boxes. Use it when an agent needs to read, merge, split, watermark, create or fill PDFs. It is a file-manipulation skill for agents that can run code, not a document viewer.
PDF is listed here for reference. It is source-available under Anthropic's proprietary terms and runs inside Claude's own apps and Claude Code; it cannot be imported into BusinessMCP because its licence forbids copying.
What you can do with it
- Extract tables from a PDF report into a DataFrame
- Merge several PDFs or split one into single pages
- Fill a non-fillable PDF form using validated coordinates
- Generate a new PDF document with reportlab
Run it on your business data
PDF’s licence forbids copying, so it can’t be imported — install it in Claude directly.

Frequently asked questions
How do I install PDF?
Run `npx skills add anthropics/skills --skill pdf` to add it to a Claude Code or other skills-compatible agent.
Can I import PDF into BusinessMCP?
No. It is published under Anthropic's source-available proprietary terms, which forbid copying, so it is listed for reference and runs inside Claude's own apps and Claude Code.
How does it handle forms without fillable fields?
Its forms guide extracts the page structure or estimates field positions visually, validates the bounding boxes, and only then fills the form and verifies the output.
