The full picture

Optimizely is the enterprise experimentation platform: Web Experimentation with a visual editor, Feature Experimentation with server-side SDKs and flags, and a sequential Stats Engine that is genuinely good. Its pricing page says every plan is individually packaged — no list price, no free tier. Published 2026 teardowns put standalone Web Experimentation at roughly $40,000–$80,000 a year under 250k monthly tracked users, $80,000–$150,000 up to a million, and $150,000+ beyond that; Vendr’s median contract across Optimizely products is $81,447 a year, on annual terms.

BusinessMCP is not trying to be Optimizely. It is a $199-a-month plan for a marketing site that has never run a test because nobody had time to design one. A deterministic engine reads your heatmaps and session replays for eight named failure modes, proposes the test with a hypothesis and the evidence behind it, and the AI opens a GitHub pull request implementing variant B. You review, merge, and the split test runs — and a winner is not declared until the sample and the calendar both say so.

Why teams switch

The price is a different order of magnitude

Teardowns put Optimizely Web Experimentation at $40,000 a year and up, before the personalization, CMS or feature-flag products most deals bundle. BusinessMCP’s Scale plan is $2,388 a year and includes analytics, session replay, the CRM and the AI business analyst.

You do not need an experimentation team

Optimizely assumes a program: someone to find hypotheses, someone to build variants, someone to read the stats. BusinessMCP does the first two — the engine proposes from your own friction data and the AI writes the PR — and the third is a readiness gate that hides the result until it is trustworthy.

The friction data is already there

Optimizely has no session replay or heatmaps of its own; you bring a separate analytics or replay tool to find out what to test. BusinessMCP’s test proposals come from the same replays and click maps you are already paying for on the plan.

Month to month

Every self-serve BusinessMCP plan is monthly. Optimizely contracts are annual, and teardowns note multi-year deals are how the 20–30% discounts are earned.

Where BusinessMCP is NOT the right choice

An alternatives page you can trust has to cut both ways. Honestly:

  • There is no visual or WYSIWYG editor. VWO, Optimizely, AB Tasty, Convert and Kameleoon all let a marketer click a headline and retype it; in BusinessMCP every variant is code in a pull request, so someone on your side has to be comfortable reviewing a diff.
  • It needs a codebase on GitHub and a human to review and merge the PR. A site on a hosted builder with no repository (a Webflow, Wix or Squarespace site, a Shopify theme nobody keeps in git) cannot run our split tests at all.
  • We only split-test web pages. There is no multivariate testing, no personalization engine, no server-side SDKs for mobile or backend experiments, and no feature flags — if you need any of those, the tools on this page are the right category and we are not.
  • A/B testing sits on the Scale plan at $199/mo. VWO’s free Starter tier, Kameleoon’s 30-day trial and Convert’s 15-day trial all cost less to start, and the $199 buys you the whole platform whether or not you use the rest of it.
  • Our stats module is deliberately simple: a two-proportion z-test behind a fixed minimum-sample-and-14-day guard. Optimizely’s sequential Stats Engine and the Bayesian engines in VWO and AB Tasty let a statistically literate team stop early on purpose; ours will not let you.

Frequently asked questions

Can BusinessMCP replace Optimizely for an enterprise experimentation program?

No. Optimizely is built for programs with a visual editor, multivariate tests, feature flags, server-side SDKs and a sequential stats engine. BusinessMCP replaces the first split test a marketing site never got round to running — and finds it for you.

How does BusinessMCP decide what to test?

Deterministically. Every page is checked against eight named failure modes — dead clicks, rage clicks, buried CTA, unconvinced (deep scroll, low conversion), message mismatch, form abandon, mobile gap, attention leak — each with a real-number threshold, then ranked by ICE. The AI only writes the copy and the code for a hypothesis the data already justified.

How are results measured?

A two-proportion z-test with lift confidence intervals, per visitor, and a readiness gate of 300 visitors and 25 conversions per arm plus 14 days. Optimizely’s Stats Engine is more sophisticated — it lets you stop early legitimately — and we say so in our cons.

What if the change cannot be split-tested?

A redesign, a pricing change or an SEO title cannot be served two ways, so BusinessMCP runs those as before/after with matched windows and labels the result confounded. It is directional, and the dashboard says so instead of pretending.

How to migrate

  1. 1

Run the BusinessMCP snippet beside Optimizely’s for two weeks so the engine has heatmap and replay data before it proposes anything.

  2. 2

Connect GitHub and choose the marketing-site repository and framework on the Connections page.

  3. 3

Let in-flight Optimizely experiments conclude; do not run two assignment systems on the same page.

  4. 4

Keep Optimizely Feature Experimentation if you use flags or server-side tests — BusinessMCP does not replace those.
