The full picture

The Clearbit Company and Person APIs were the default way to turn a domain or an email into firmographics. HubSpot bought Clearbit in late 2023 and folded it into HubSpot as Breeze Intelligence; the free Clearbit platform, weekly visitor report and Clearbit Connect ended on April 30, 2025, and the free Logo API was switched off on December 8, 2025. A September 2026 teardown found no new self-serve Clearbit API signups — existing contracts reportedly still run, with nothing on a current HubSpot page promising how long. HubSpot’s own knowledge base now describes enrichment as a feature of paid HubSpot subscriptions that does not consume HubSpot Credits, and it documents no enrichment API.

So the question has changed. If you are on HubSpot, you already have Breeze enrichment and should use it. If you are on Salesforce, Pipedrive, your own database or an AI agent, there is no Clearbit key to buy. BusinessMCP’s Data API is one answer: send a domain, a URL or a work email to company_lookup and get back the company — name, industry, employee range, founding year, location, phone, LinkedIn, a short description and whether the website still answers — from a store of 34M companies, over REST or MCP, for 1 credit charged only when a company is found.

This page is about the enrichment API. If what you used was Clearbit Reveal — naming the companies visiting your own website from a tracking script — that is our platform’s visitor identification, and the Clearbit Reveal alternative page compares it properly.

Why teams switch

Works outside HubSpot

Breeze Intelligence enriches records inside a HubSpot portal. The Data API is an HTTP endpoint and an MCP server: call it from a Salesforce flow, a warehouse job, a signup handler or an agent, with one Bearer key and no CRM subscription.

Pay per company found, not per seat

The cheapest way into Breeze enrichment is a paid HubSpot seat. The Data API has no seat: 1,000 free credits a month, then $2.00 per 1,000, and a lookup that finds nothing is refunded. company_bulk_lookup takes 100 domains per call and charges only for the companies it finds.

Honest about what it does not know

A domain we hold no row for returns found=false, not a guess. Website status is what our crawler last measured, with the date. A brand platform such as google.com is returned name-only, because a listing hosted on it is not that company. Those rules are written into the tool descriptions an agent reads.

The rest of the job on the same key

The same key does company search by industry, location and size (2 credits per company returned), the company’s email format, IP to company, domain-level email checks and lead checks — the neighbouring calls a Clearbit integration usually needed a second vendor for.

Clearbit and Breeze Intelligence pricing, September 2026

HubSpot has not published an end date for legacy Clearbit API keys, and HubSpot pricing pages were showing limited-time introductory seat prices on 28 September 2026. Check both before you plan a migration around them.

Sources: HubSpot’s knowledge base and Sales Hub pricing page and Clearbit’s release notes on 2026-09-28, with two 2026 teardowns for the API status and the credit rate. HubSpot does not sell Breeze enrichment on its own, so the real price is the HubSpot seat. BusinessMCP: the first 1,000 first-party credits each month are free; after that credits are billed in arrears at $2.00 per 1,000 for the first 100,000, falling to $0.80 per 1,000 above a million. New paying accounts start with a 50,000-credit monthly cap you can change. Prices come from the same file the charge path reads.

Where BusinessMCP is NOT the right choice

An alternatives page you can trust has to cut both ways. Honestly:

  • If you run HubSpot, Breeze enrichment is already included in your paid plan, costs no credits and fills records in place — including continuous refresh and form shortening. An external API cannot match that convenience, and you should not pay us for it.
  • company_lookup returns no technographics, revenue, funding or intent fields: name, industry, employee range, founding year, location, phone, LinkedIn, a description and website status is the whole record.
  • We do not crawl on demand. A domain we hold no row for returns found=false (and the credit is refunded) rather than a freshly scraped profile, and there is no name-to-domain lookup — you need a domain, URL or work email to start.
  • The people tools (people_search, email_finder, person_enrich) need a card and accepted people-data terms, are never covered by the free credits, default to 500 records a day, and never return people in the EU, the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, people we place in California, Texas, Vermont and Oregon, or people we cannot place at all. A European or Californian prospect list is not something this API will build.
  • The Data API is a young product from a small company. You get published per-call prices and direct founder support, not an account team, a long track record or an integrations marketplace.

Frequently asked questions

Can I still get a Clearbit API key?

Not as a new customer, as far as anyone has documented: a September 2026 teardown found no self-serve signups, and HubSpot’s knowledge base describes enrichment only as a feature inside HubSpot. Existing API contracts reportedly keep working, but HubSpot has not published an end date.

What does Breeze Intelligence cost now?

HubSpot says data enrichment is available on paid Marketing, Sales, Service, Data and Content Hub subscriptions (Smart CRM and Revenue Hub at Professional or above) and does not consume HubSpot Credits. The cheapest route is a Sales Hub Starter seat at $20/month ($15 annually). Credit-metered features such as buyer intent draw on HubSpot Credits, reported at $0.01 each on overage.

How is this different from the Clearbit Reveal alternative page?

Reveal named the companies visiting your own website from a tracking script — our platform does that, and the Clearbit Reveal alternative page covers it. This page is about the enrichment API: you send a domain and get the company back, from your own code or an agent.

What fields does company_lookup return?

Name, industry, employee range, founding year, location with an ISO-2 country, company phone, LinkedIn page, a short description, whether the website answers, and a source marker. Brand platforms such as google.com come back name-only. There are no people in the response and no personal email addresses.

Is there an MCP server?

Yes, on the same key at /api/hub/mcp. An agent in Claude, ChatGPT or your own client can call company_lookup, company_search and the rest directly, at the same price as REST.

How to migrate

  1. 1

Inventory every Clearbit call you make and note which fields you actually read — most integrations use a handful.

  2. 2

Create a Data API key and swap the Company API call for GET /api/hub/v1/companies/{domain}; for backfills use POST /companies/bulk with up to 100 domains, charged only for the companies found.

  3. 3

Map found=false to your existing “not enriched” path rather than retrying — a miss is an answer, and it was refunded.

  4. 4

If you are on HubSpot, turn on Breeze automatic enrichment for records inside the portal and keep the Data API for what happens outside it.
