Testing Strategy, from the anthropics knowledge-work-plugins engineering plugin (Apache-2.0), is a short skill for designing test strategies and test plans. It frames the work around the testing pyramid: many fast unit tests, some integration tests and a few slow, high-confidence end-to-end tests. It then gives a strategy per component type: unit tests for business logic plus integration tests for the HTTP layer and contract tests for API endpoints; input validation, transformation correctness and idempotency for data pipelines; component, interaction, visual regression and accessibility tests for frontends; and smoke, chaos and load tests for infrastructure.
It tells the agent to focus coverage on business-critical paths, error handling, edge cases, security boundaries and data integrity, and to skip trivial getters and setters, framework code and one-off scripts. The output is a test plan listing what to test, the test type for each area, coverage targets, example test cases and gaps in existing coverage. It is triggered by questions like how should we test this or what tests do we need. It plans testing rather than writing the full suite.
This is mainly for engineering teams and coding agents like Claude Code; it has little role in BusinessMCP's business-data work.
What you can do with it
- Draft a test plan for a new API endpoint
- Decide which frontend flows need visual or accessibility tests
- Find coverage gaps in an existing data pipeline
- Set coverage targets focused on business-critical paths
Run it on your business data

Frequently asked questions
How do I install Testing Strategy?
Run `npx skills add anthropics/knowledge-work-plugins --skill testing-strategy` to add it to a Claude Code or other skills-compatible agent. You can also import it from the BusinessMCP dashboard, where it becomes a playbook in your workspace.
What does the output look like?
A test plan listing what to test, the test type for each area, coverage targets, example test cases and gaps in existing coverage.
What does it say to skip?
Trivial getters and setters, framework code and one-off scripts.
