Managing Linear issues, projects, and teams. Use when working with Linear tasks, creating issues, updating status, querying projects, or managing team workflows.
Linear, published by wrsmith108, gives an agent workflows for managing Linear issues, projects, initiatives and teams. It supports three backends and tells the agent to use whichever is available: the Linear MCP tools, the Linear CLI, or bundled helper scripts built on the Linear SDK and GraphQL API. It includes a required issue creation checklist, a project planning workflow that creates issues in the correct project from the start, commands for project status and linking projects to initiatives, label validation, image uploads to issues, and bulk sync operations such as marking many issues done.
Security is explicit: the skill tells the agent never to expose the Linear API key in terminal output or its context, lists commands to avoid such as echoing the key or printing the .env file, and recommends Varlock to inject the secret. Use it when working with Linear tasks, statuses and project hierarchies; it is scoped to Linear and does not manage other trackers.
This skill is aimed at coding agents like Claude Code with access to Linear. It is MIT-licensed and importable into BusinessMCP, but its helper scripts only run locally; an imported copy is instructions only.

Frequently asked questions
Does the Linear skill need the Linear MCP server?
No. It uses MCP tools if available, otherwise the Linear CLI or its bundled helper scripts, and tells the agent not to treat missing MCP tools as a blocker.
Is Linear safe to install?
Our static scan flagged env-file-read because the skill mentions .env files when setting up the LINEAR_API_KEY. The same skill explicitly tells the agent never to print .env or echo the key, and it passed the skills.sh security auditors with no FAIL.
How does it handle the API key?
It recommends storing LINEAR_API_KEY with a sensitive annotation and running commands through Varlock so the key is injected without appearing in the agent's context.
