Simple task management using a shared TASKS.md file. Reference this when the user asks about their tasks, wants to add/complete tasks, or needs help tracking commitments.

Task Management, from Anthropic's knowledge-work-plugins productivity plugin, tracks tasks in a plain TASKS.md file in the current working directory that both the agent and the user can edit. If the file does not exist, the agent creates it with four sections: Active, Waiting On, Someday and Done. Tasks use a checkbox line with a bold title plus context such as who it is for and a due date; completed tasks are checked, struck through, dated and moved to Done. The skill defines how to respond to common requests: summarize what is on my plate and flag anything overdue, add a task, mark one done, or report what is waiting and for how long.

It also tells the agent to offer, not auto-add, tasks extracted from meeting notes or conversations, such as commitments the user made. On first use it can copy a visual dashboard into the working directory. Use it when you want lightweight personal task tracking without a separate app; it is not a team project management tool.

It is published by anthropics under Apache-2.0 and can be imported into BusinessMCP as a playbook, where it is best suited to a founder's own task list rather than CRM work.

What you can do with it

  • Ask what is on my plate and see overdue items
  • Add a task with an owner and due date
  • Mark a task done and move it to the Done section
  • Pull action items out of meeting notes, with confirmation

Run it on your business data

Imported into BusinessMCP, Task Management becomes a playbook your AI business analyst applies to your connected workspace tools.
