The full picture

Searchmetrics is not a product you can buy in 2026. Conductor — its closest enterprise competitor — acquired it in February 2023, and searchmetrics.com now redirects to conductor.com, where a legacy page tells visitors "Searchmetrics is now Conductor". The Search Suite, Content Experience and the Searchmetrics visibility index were folded into Conductor rather than maintained, so anyone searching for Searchmetrics pricing today is looking at a brand that no longer sells anything.

That makes this page a redirection rather than a teardown. If you want the same thing Searchmetrics did — enterprise SEO at scale, across many domains, with a crawler and content scoring — Conductor is the direct successor and Semrush and Ahrefs are the usual alternatives. Conductor publishes no pricing at all; the only citable figures are third-party transaction records, and they are large: Vendr documents 13 contracts ranging from $26,800 to over $500,000 a year, with a mid-market median near $49,000.

BusinessMCP is not that, and pretending otherwise would waste your time. What we do cover is the part of the job that changed since Searchmetrics was built: whether the AI answer engines recommend you, what your Search Console data actually says, and which channels produce revenue. If your reason for searching was "our SEO platform went away and we do not want a five-figure contract", that is the conversation worth having.

Why teams switch

The thing you were measuring moved

Searchmetrics was built for ten blue links. The measurable surface now includes AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude, where a zero-click answer either names you or names a competitor. That is what we measure weekly, with a 95% confidence interval on every rate so a small sample is never read as a trend.

No public price is itself the answer

Conductor does not publish pricing, which in enterprise software reliably means a sales cycle and a yearly commitment. Every BusinessMCP plan has a number on the pricing page and runs month to month, from a genuinely free tier through $499.

Search Console without the export dance

We persist your Search Console data daily and surface query trends, striking-distance positions and the pages behind them — the reporting layer most Searchmetrics users actually opened it for, minus the suite around it.

The traffic is attributed, not just counted

Rankings are a means. We tie sessions to revenue through multi-touch attribution across six models, and identify the companies behind anonymous B2B visits, so an SEO number connects to a pipeline number in the same tool.

Conductor publishes no pricing; the range is from Vendr’s recorded transactions, which is buyer-reported data and not a vendor quote. Semrush and Ahrefs prices are their own published list prices. We are listing the honest replacements here, including ones that are not us.

Where BusinessMCP is NOT the right choice

An alternatives page you can trust has to cut both ways. Honestly:

  • We are not an enterprise SEO platform and this page should not be read as claiming otherwise. There is no site crawler, no log-file analysis, no content-scoring editor and no multi-domain rollup reporting. Searchmetrics had all four; Conductor has all four; we have none of them.
  • Rank tracking is not our product. We read your Search Console data — real impressions, clicks and positions for queries you already rank for — but we do not track a keyword list you supply against a scheduled crawl of the SERP, which is the core of what an SEO suite sells.
  • No keyword research database. Semrush and Ahrefs maintain indexes of billions of keywords with volume and difficulty; we have none, and for that job you should buy one of them.
  • We measure five answer engines at most (Google AI Overviews, Gemini, Perplexity, ChatGPT, Claude). Profound’s enterprise tier tracks up to nine platforms and Scrunch adds Meta AI; nobody, including us, can probe Copilot or Bing since Microsoft retired those APIs in 2025.
  • We measure weekly, not daily. Profound Growth, Otterly and Semrush’s toolkit re-run prompts every day. If you need to see a change within 24 hours of shipping a page, they are faster.
  • Sample sizes on the cheaper plans are small, so the intervals are wide. Zero mentions in five Gemini answers still leaves a 95% upper bound near 28% — we print that interval instead of a false-precision "0%", which some people find less satisfying than a single number.
  • We do not estimate prompt volume. Ahrefs Brand Radar ranks prompts against a 475M-prompt database and Semrush ships prompt research; we tell you whether you are cited for the questions you chose to track, not how often people ask them.

Frequently asked questions

Is Searchmetrics still available?

No. Conductor acquired Searchmetrics in February 2023 and the standalone product was wound down; searchmetrics.com redirects to conductor.com. You cannot buy a Searchmetrics licence in 2026, which is why most searches for its pricing now come from people looking for a replacement.

What happened to the Searchmetrics visibility index?

It went with the rest of the product into Conductor. Conductor said at the time it would bring "the best of Searchmetrics" into its own platform; there is no separately maintained Searchmetrics index to reference any more, so historical comparisons against it are not reproducible.

How much does Conductor cost?

Conductor does not publish pricing. The only citable figures are third-party transaction records: Vendr documents 13 contracts between $26,800 and over $500,000 per year, with a mid-market median around $48,950. Treat those as buyer-reported data rather than a quote, and expect an annual commitment.

Is BusinessMCP a replacement for Searchmetrics?

Only for part of it. We cover Search Console reporting, AI-visibility tracking across five answer engines, attribution and visitor identification. We do not crawl your site, score content, or track a supplied keyword list at scale. If those were the features you used, Semrush or Ahrefs is a better answer than we are.

Why does an AI-visibility tool appear in a Searchmetrics comparison at all?

Because the measurement problem moved. Searchmetrics was built when the question was "where do we rank"; increasingly the question is "does the answer engine name us at all", and that is a different measurement with different statistics. It is the half of the old job that genuinely has no incumbent.

How to migrate

  1. 1

Decide first whether you need an SEO suite at all. If you were using Searchmetrics for crawling, content scoring and multi-domain rank tracking, price Conductor, Semrush and Ahrefs — this is not a like-for-like replacement and we would rather say so now.

  2. 2

If what you need is reporting and AI visibility, connect Google Search Console. Your query, page and position history persists daily from that point, and the query-trend view needs two weeks before it says anything.

  3. 3

Add the unbranded questions your category gets asked to AI visibility tracking, plus the competitors you want measured against. Five on the free plan, up to forty on Business.

  4. 4

Install the tracking script if you want the attribution side. Rankings on their own do not tell you which channel produced revenue, which was the gap in every SEO suite of the Searchmetrics era.
