Build comprehensive 3-5 year financial models with revenue projections, cost structures, cash flow analysis, and scenario planning for early-stage startups.

Startup Financial Modeling, published by wshobson in the agents repository under MIT, teaches an agent to build 3-5 year financial models for early-stage startups. Revenue is built bottom-up by cohort (MRR as cohort size times retention times ARPU), costs are split into COGS, sales and marketing, R&D and G&A, and cash flow covers burn rate and runway. It includes a role-based hiring plan with fully loaded cost per employee, a conservative/base/optimistic scenario framework, and a time horizon of monthly detail for two years and quarterly for the third.

A reference file walks the step-by-step process: define the business model, build cohort revenue, model fixed and variable costs, create the hiring plan, and more. Templates cover SaaS, marketplace, e-commerce and services models with the ratios and example projections the skill uses as illustrations. Use it when preparing fundraising projections, calculating runway or scenario planning. Its typical ratios are rules of thumb from the skill, not benchmarks for your business, and it does not produce audited or advisory figures.

In BusinessMCP the AI business analyst can follow it as a playbook and seed assumptions such as ARPU or retention from your connected Stripe revenue instead of guesses.

What you can do with it

  • Build a cohort-based SaaS revenue projection for a seed deck
  • Calculate monthly burn and runway from current cash
  • Model conservative, base and optimistic scenarios side by side
  • Draft a hiring plan with fully loaded cost per role

Run it on your business data

Imported into BusinessMCP, Startup Financial Modeling becomes a playbook your AI business analyst applies to your Stripe revenue and connected databases.
