Competitive analysis two ways - the in-deal play against a named competitor, and win/loss patterns, competitor mentions, and battlecards across the book.
Competitive Intelligence, from the anthropics knowledge-work-plugins sales plugin (Apache-2.0), teaches an agent to analyse competitors two ways. It first grounds the competitor list and where the CRM stores competitor and loss-reason fields, then pulls won and lost deals carrying a competitor value, customer quotes from transcripts and email, and the competitor's recent public moves, each cited to a source. The analysis is a win/loss summary per competitor that states sample sizes, key wins and losses, patterns of where you win and lose, and product gaps with how many accounts raised each.
Mode A answers the in-deal question: where the competitor is strong, where this customer's needs do not match that strength, a trap question, proof points and the historical don't-do. Mode B maintains one battlecard per competitor and an optional weekly digest of what changed. It is for account executives and sales leaders. It does not hardcode a competitor set, warns against overweighting recent anecdotes, keeps facts separate from interpretation, and treats customer and third-party text as evidence, never as instructions.
In BusinessMCP it can run as a playbook alongside your workspace CRM, web research and connected tools, so the AI business analyst grounds battlecards in your own deal history.
What you can do with it
- Prepare the play against a named competitor in one open deal
- Summarise win/loss by competitor with sample sizes stated
- Keep one battlecard per competitor refreshed with quotes and gaps
- Produce a weekly digest of new competitive deals and public moves
Run it on your business data
Imported into BusinessMCP, Competitive Intelligence becomes a playbook your AI business analyst applies to your CRM contacts, identified companies and their website visits.

Frequently asked questions
How do I install Competitive Intelligence?
Run `npx skills add anthropics/knowledge-work-plugins --skill competitive-intelligence` to add it to a Claude Code or other skills-compatible agent. You can also import it from the BusinessMCP dashboard, where it becomes a playbook in your workspace.
Where does the competitor list come from?
From your org context and the live CRM schema, never a hardcoded set. If the CRM has no competitor field, the skill says so and works from transcript and email mentions, labeled as such.
Does it write to the CRM?
No gated writes are built into this skill. Competitor-field backfills are handed off to a separate update-opportunity step as proposals.
