Write correct, performant SQL across all major data warehouse dialects (Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, PostgreSQL, etc.).

SQL Queries is a dialect reference and pattern library for writing correct, readable warehouse SQL. For PostgreSQL (including Aurora, RDS, Supabase and Neon), Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift and Databricks it lists the date and time functions, string and pattern matching, JSON, array and semi-structured access, and the performance tips specific to each engine, such as filtering on partition columns in BigQuery, clustering keys in Snowflake and Delta Lake features in Databricks.

The common-patterns section covers window functions, CTEs for readability, cohort retention, funnel analysis and deduplication. A debugging checklist walks through the usual failures: dialect-specific syntax, column-not-found and case sensitivity, type mismatches that need an explicit cast, division by zero handled with NULLIF, ambiguous columns in joins and GROUP BY errors. Use it when writing analytical queries, translating a query between dialects or tidying a slow one. It is background knowledge Claude applies rather than a slash command, and it does not run queries itself.

In BusinessMCP, when a workspace has connected its own database, the AI business analyst can use this playbook while writing queries against it through read-only access, and the same guidance reaches Claude, Cursor or ChatGPT over the workspace's hosted MCP endpoint.

What you can do with it

  • Write a cohort retention query in the warehouse's own dialect
  • Translate a PostgreSQL query to BigQuery or Snowflake syntax
  • Build a funnel analysis with CTEs and window functions
  • Debug a failing query using the dialect error checklist

Run it on your business data

Imported into BusinessMCP, SQL Queries becomes a playbook your AI business analyst applies to your web analytics, funnels and connected databases.

Frequently asked questions

Which SQL dialects does it cover?

PostgreSQL (including Aurora, RDS, Supabase and Neon), Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift and Databricks SQL.

Does the skill execute queries?

No. It is reference guidance for writing and debugging SQL. Running a query depends on whatever database connection the agent has.

How do I install SQL Queries?

Run `npx skills add anthropics/knowledge-work-plugins --skill sql-queries`, or import it from the BusinessMCP dashboard to use it as a playbook in your workspace.
